Why should I clean my gutters?

In fact, Consumer Reports calls “runaway rainwater” the number one home repair issue you should never ignore.

Because your gutter system plays such an important role in protecting your home, it’s essential to keep it clear year-round. When gutters clog, water can back up and cause damage to your roof, siding, and foundation—often leading to expensive repairs. Regular gutter cleaning is a simple way to avoid those costs and keep water flowing where it should.

How frequently should I clean my gutters?

We recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year—typically once in the spring and once in the fall. Our climate brings heavy leaf drop, seasonal storms, snowmelt, and rapid freeze-thaw cycles, all of which can quickly clog gutters and downspouts.

Homes with a lot of nearby trees, pine needles, or older roofing may need service three or more times per year to prevent backups. Regular cleanings help ensure your system flows properly, protects your foundation, and reduces the risk of ice dams during winter.

Do all the leaves need to fall from my trees before having my gutters cleaned?

No. Your gutters don’t need to wait until every leaf has fallen. Once we clean your gutters and downspouts, they will function properly, and any additional leaves that fall will be washed away by rain. This is why it’s important to have your gutters cleaned before heavy fall rains and the first freeze, to prevent clogs, ice dams, and water damage during the colder months. Regular cleanings throughout the season help keep your system flowing and protect your home.

Yes. We are fully insured, including both liability and workers’ compensation coverage. This protects you, your property, and our team on every job.

Do you recommend screening or gutter guards?

Accepted Answer

No. In our experience, gutter screens and guards often create more problems than they solve. While they’re designed to keep debris out, they still allow smaller material—like shingle grit, pine needles, and seed pods—to get through and build up inside the gutters. At the same time, the guards themselves trap debris on top, making it harder to see what’s going on inside the system and more difficult (and costly) to clean when clogs do occur. For most homes, regular cleanings are more effective, reliable, and cost-efficient than installing gutter guards.

What if I already have gutter guards—will you still service my gutters?

Accepted Answer

No. We do not service gutters that have guards or screens installed. Gutter guards make it difficult to properly access, clean, and inspect the gutter system, which prevents us from guaranteeing the quality of our work. For that reason, we only service open gutter systems. If you have partial guards we are open to discussing depending on the situation. Or if you would like your gutter guards removed and then gutters cleaned we are happy to assist with removal prior to a cleaning. Note: Removal of gutter guards can not take place during the fall/winter busy season due to time constraints.

Do I need to be home when my gutters are cleaned?

No. You do not need to be home for your gutter cleaning. As long as the outdoor water is turned on, we’re able to complete the service without you present. After the work is finished, we’ll email or text your invoice and service details for your records.

Accepted Answer

Your gutters will be cleaned by our trained and experienced team members. Each crew follows strict safety protocols and service standards to ensure your gutters are thoroughly cleared and flowing properly. We take pride in providing reliable, professional service every time.

Do you perform gutter cleanings during the winter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can continue to clean and service your gutters throughout the winter, as long as temperatures stay above freezing for 2–3 consecutive days. Once the gutters are frozen, we must pause service until conditions allow safe and effective cleaning. This helps ensure your gutters remain clear and functional even during the colder months.

Can my gutters be cleaned without water?

Accepted Answer

Yes—however, it’s not recommended. Cleaning with water allows us to fully rinse away overspray and debris and properly flush the downspouts to ensure everything is flowing as it should. Without water, these steps are limited.

That said, in situations where water isn’t available or when a customer specifically requests it, we can perform a “dry cleaning,” as long as we can confirm the gutters and downspouts are free of clogs.

Do you take debris with you?

We manage debris in a way that’s safe and practical. Small particles like dirt and leaves are dispersed throughout your yard, while any larger debris, such as clumps of leaves, plant growth or sticks, is collected and placed in your trash receptacles. This ensures your gutters are fully cleared without leaving a mess behind.

No. Our standard gutter service covers only the parts of your system that are above ground.
